CA$1,397.00

This hands-on program is designed for individuals looking to strengthen their bookkeeping expertise, whether you’re a small business owner currently managing your own books, entering a bookkeeping role, or preparing to launch your own firm and want a solid refresher.

In this tactile, real-world training, you will learn to manage daily financial transactions, including reviewing source documents, processing invoices, running payroll, managing payables, submitting government remittances, and performing account reconciliations. Unlike many traditional courses or schooling methods, this program covers essential accounting principles, such as debits and credits, while teaching you how to generate accurate financial reports in real-world accounting systems. In this program, you’ll be introduced to the practical role of a bookkeeper and gain applicable knowledge and experience of the accounting equation, double-entry accounting, and full-cycle bookkeeping, including year-end closing procedures.

A final project case study will give you real-world practice where you can apply full-cycle bookkeeping and put your skills and processes into action just as a professional would. Upon successful completion of the four core courses, you’ll also earn a recognized Bookkeeping Certificate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Bookkeeping for Small Business – Certificate course is designed to give you a complete foundation for managing your own bookkeeping or to provide your own bookkeeping services. Even if you’re already confident in certain areas, each step builds on the other to ensure nothing is overlooked. That said, we can personalize this training as we go, so we can focus more time on the areas where you need the most support.

Yes! A major part of our training involves hands-on learning with Xero (and some exposure to other commonly used accounting tools like QuickBooks). You’ll get practical experience setting up accounts, reconciling transactions, and using reporting features so you can confidently apply these skills with your own clients.

It is beneficial for participants to have their own clients, as this allows them to learn more effectively from their own clients’ bookkeeping scenarios. However, if participants do not have a real client, they will be provided a real-world sample client file to be used to apply to their bookkeeping training and assignments.

After completing the program, you’ll have access to ongoing email support for questions for 30 days after your training. This email support includes guidance or feedback as you implement what you’ve learned. This could include technical troubleshooting, strategy advice, or clarity on processes – essentially a safety net to help you stay on track as you grow your bookkeeping business.
